It is a small wooden container painted red with metal applications, which can be detonated by shooting it with anything, even an arrow. Lara can also pick up oil casks and throw them wherever they are needed. They do sink when thrown into the water. They are made to automatically respawn when lost or wasted, preventing the player from getting stuck. Also there is always a supply of arrows nearby, in case the player finds them when out of ammo.

==Occurrence==
The Oil Cask is first discovered inside the [[Challenge Tomb]], [[Ancient Cistern]], where it is used to open up wooden portals.
